Jøtul chose cast iron back in the 19th century and still uses it to make its fireplaces and stoves. Why?

• Longevity. Cast iron products last for decades – some Jøtul stove models are still in use after 40-50 years.

✅ How is Jøtul cast iron made?

At the Jøtul factory in Norway, cast iron is made from recycled scrap metal.

• 1️⃣ The metal is melted and purified, supplemented with carbon and other materials.
  
• 2️⃣ Liquid iron is poured into special molds, where it solidifies into future parts of the furnaces.
  
• 3️⃣ Every detail is checked by hand, and the ovens are assembled to meet the strictest quality standards.

This is not mass production – each product is the result of controlled quality.

✅ Why is cast iron better than steel?

• Cast iron radiates heat gently and for a long time, steel heats up faster, but also cools down faster.
• A cast iron body requires more space from the wall, but it creates a more pleasant, even heat.
• Steel stoves are more often convection, so they can be placed closer to the wall, but the charm of cast iron is precisely that "antique" feeling of warmth.
